TECHNICAL INFO

911 CARRERA CHIP VERSIONS

Porsche has upgraded the hardware and software several times during the 1984 to 1989 Carrera 3.2L production.
It's important that you visually identify the correct board configuration so we can provide the correct chip version.

IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT

After installing the new 4K chip in your DME / ECU the idle speed might be a little higher than normal or the engine might hunt.

NOTE: The engine needs to be at normal running temperature before attempting the adjustment.

To lower and adjust the idle to about 860 RPM to 880 RPM, Locate the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body and turn it slowly clockwise about 2 full turns and verify that the idle speed it's adjusted to about 860 to 880 RPM. Keep turning the screw if necessary for fine adjustment.

NOTE: The idle adjustment screw might be covered with a yellow plastic cap that needs to be removed to perform the adjustments.

Also for a more precise adjustment, locate the rubber test socket connector placed on the left side of the engine compartment (Behind the Black removable cover). Bridge terminals B and C with a piece of wire and adjust the idle via the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body.

If the correct steps are followed and the idle speed is properly adjusted, there should be no difference in idle speed with the jumper or no jumper installed. Remove the jumper when finished.
